(WSI) collected Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data for the Lewis County survey area for the Puget Sound LiDAR Consortium. This data set covers approximately 547 square miles. Delivery 1 of the survey area was collected on July 18th, 19th and 20th of 2009. The LiDAR survey utilized both a Leica ALS60 and a Leica ALS50-II sensor in a Cessna Caravan 208B. All areas were surveyed with an opposing flight line side-lap of 50% (=100% overlap) to reduce laser shadowing and increase surface laser painting. The Leica laser systems allow up to four range measurements (returns) per pulse, and all discernible laser returns were processed for the output dataset. This LiDAR survey achieved a nominal point spacing of 8.82 points per square meter. Original contact information: Contact Org: Puget Sound LiDAR Consortium / Puget Sound Regional Council Phone: 206-464-5325 This data set is an LAZ (compressed LAS) format file containing LIDAR point cloud data. purpose: The LAS files can be used to create DEMs and also to extract topographic data in software that does not support raster data. Other surface features can also be extracted with custom applications. LiDAR data has a wide range of uses such as earthquake hazard studies, hydrologic modeling, forestry, coastal engineering, roadway and pipeline engineering, flood plain mapping, wetland studies, geologic studies and a variety of analytical and cartographic projects. credit: Please credit the Puget Sound LiDAR Consortium (PSLC). TINing the points produces large triangles and hence the elevations may be less accurate within such areas. Elevation values for open water surfaces are not valid elevation values because few LiDAR points are returned from water surfaces. Triangles were created across water surfaces by interpolating from the nearest land points | Distribution Liability: Any conclusions drawn from the analysis of this information are not the responsibility of Watershed Sciences Inc., PSLC, NOAA, the Office for Coastal Management or its partners. resourceConstraints: (MD_SecurityConstraints) classification: (MD_ClassificationCode) unclassified classificationSystem: (missing) handlingDescription: (missing) aggregationInfo: (MD_AggregateInformation) aggregateDataSetName: (CI_Citation) title: NOAA Data Management Plan (DMP) date: (unknown) identifier: (MD_Identifier) authority: (CI_Citation) title: NOAA/NMFS/EDM date: (inapplicable) code: 50156 citedResponsibleParty: (CI_ResponsibleParty) organisationName: (inapplicable) contactInfo: (CI_Contact) onlineResource: (CI_OnlineResource) linkage: https://www.fisheries.noaa.gov/inportserve/waf/noaa/nos/ocmp/dmp/pdf/50156.pdf protocol: WWW:LINK-1.0-http--link name: NOAA Data Management Plan (DMP) description: NOAA Data Management Plan for this record on InPort. function: (CI_OnLineFunctionCode) information role: (inapplicable) associationType: (DS_AssociationTypeCode) crossReference spatialRepresentationType: (MD_SpatialRepresentationTypeCode) vector language: eng; US topicCategory: (MD_TopicCategoryCode) elevation extent: (EX_Extent) geographicElement: (EX_GeographicBoundingBox) westBoundLongitude: -122.787304 eastBoundLongitude: -121.532047 southBoundLatitude: 46.380671 northBoundLatitude: 46.81886 temporalElement: (EX_TemporalExtent) extent: TimePeriod: description: | Currentness: Ground Condition beginPosition: 2009-07-18 endPosition: 2009-07-20 supplementalInformation: A footprint of this data set may be viewed in Google Earth at: https://noaa-nos-coastal-lidar-pds.s3.amazonaws.com/laz/geoid18/2520/supplemental/wa2009_pslc_lewis.KMZ A LiDAR Report from the vendor for this data set may be viewed here: https://noaa-nos-coastal-lidar-pds.s3.amazonaws.com/laz/geoid18/2520/supplemental/Lewis_County_Data_Report_Delivery_2009.pdf return to top contentInfo: (MD_FeatureCatalogueDescription) complianceCode: false language: LanguageCode: eng includedWithDataset: false featureCatalogueCitation: (CI_Citation) title: none date: (unavailable) return to top distributionInfo: (MD_Distribution) distributor: (MD_Distributor) distributorContact: (CI_ResponsibleParty) organisationName: NOAA Office for Coastal Management contactInfo: (CI_Contact) phone: (CI_Telephone) voice: (843) 740-1202 address: (CI_Address) deliveryPoint: 2234 South Hobson Ave city: Charleston administrativeArea: SC postalCode: 29405-2413 country: (missing) electronicMailAddress: coastal.info@noaa.gov onlineResource: (CI_OnlineResource) linkage: https://coast.noaa.gov protocol: WWW:LINK-1.0-http--link name: NOAA Office for Coastal Management Website description: NOAA Office for Coastal Management Home Page function: (CI_OnLineFunctionCode) information role: (CI_RoleCode) distributor transferOptions: (MD_DigitalTransferOptions) onLine: (CI_OnlineResource) linkage: https://coast.noaa.gov/dataviewer/#/lidar/search/where:ID=2520 protocol: WWW:LINK-1.0-http--link name: Customized Download description: Create custom data files by choosing data area, product type, map projection, file format, datum, etc. function: (CI_OnLineFunctionCode) download transferOptions: (MD_DigitalTransferOptions) onLine: (CI_OnlineResource) linkage: https://noaa-nos-coastal-lidar-pds.s3.amazonaws.com/laz/geoid18/2520/index.html protocol: WWW:LINK-1.0-http--link name: Bulk Download description: Simple download of data files. function: (CI_OnLineFunctionCode) download return to top dataQualityInfo: (DQ_DataQuality) scope: (DQ_Scope) level: (MD_ScopeCode) dataset report: (DQ_QuantitativeAttributeAccuracy) nameOfMeasure: Accuracy evaluationMethodDescription: Elevations are recorded in floating-point meters and the vertical datum is ellipsoidal (GEOID03). Shaded relief images have been visually inspected for data errors such as pits, border artifacts, gaps, and shifting. The data was examined at a 1:3500 scale. result: (missing) lineage: (LI_Lineage) statement: (missing) processStep: (LI_ProcessStep) description: 1.Flight lines and data were reviewed to ensure complete coverage of the study area and positional accuracy of the laser points. 2. Laser point return coordinates were computed using the IPAS survey suite and ALS Post Processing software based on independent data from the LiDAR system, IMU, and aircraft. 3. The raw LiDAR file was assembled into flight lines per return with each point having an associated x, y, and z coordinate. 4. Visual inspection of swath to swath laser point consistencies within the study area were used to perform manual refinements of system alignment. 5. Custom algorithms were designed to evaluate points between adjacent flight lines. Automated system alignment was computed based upon randomly selected swath to swath accuracy measurements that consider elevation, slope, and intensities. Specifically, refinement in the combination of system pitch, roll and yaw offset parameters optimize internal consistency. 6. Noise (e.g., pits and birds) was filtered using ALS software tools based on known elevation ranges and included the removal of any cycle slips. 7. Using TerraScan and Microstation, ground classifications utilized custom settings appropriate to the study area. 8. The corrected and filtered return points were compared to the RTK ground survey points collected to verify the vertical and horizontal accuracies. 9. Points were broken into processing bins and output areas and output as laser points, TINed and GRIDed surfaces. Bare earth DEMs meet PSLC specification. dateTime: DateTime: 2009-12-10T00:00:00 processStep: (LI_ProcessStep) description: The NOAA Office for Coastal Management (OCM) downloaded topographic files in .LAZ format from PSLC's website. The files contained LiDAR elevation and intensity measurements. The data were received in Washington State Plane South Zone 4602, NAD83 coordinates and were vertically referenced to NAVD88 using the Geoid03 model. The vertical units of the data were feet. OCM performed the following processing for data storage and Digital Coast provisioning purposes: 1. ASCII xyz files were parsed to LAS files. 2. The topographic LAS files were converted from orthometric (NAVD88) heights to ellipsoidal heights using Geoid03. 3. The topographic LAS files were converted from a Projected Coordinate System (WA SP South) to a Geographic Coordinate system (NAD83). 4. The topographic LAS files' vertical units were converted from feet to meters. 5. The topographic LAS files' were converted from NAVD88 (orthometric) heights to GRS80 (ellipsoid) heights using Geoid03. 6. The topographic LAS files were geotagged and header information was updated. dateTime: DateTime: 2013-08-01T00:00:00 processStep: (LI_ProcessStep) description: The vertical values in this data set have been converted to reference North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) (GEOID18) meters, using the GEOID18 grids provided by the National Geodetic Survey. Any datum and projection transformations were then done with the Office for Coastal Management 'datum_shift' program. Compression to an LAZ file was done with the LAStools 'laszip' program and can be unzipped with the same free program (laszip.org) Processing notes: dateTime: DateTime: 2023-07-01T06:10:37 processor: (CI_ResponsibleParty) individualName: NOAA Office for Coastal Management contactInfo: (CI_Contact) address: (CI_Address) electronicMailAddress: coastal.info@noaa.gov role: (CI_RoleCode) processor |
