The pre-Katrina LiDAR data was collected by EarthData International at a 5-meter posting density during the period of February 25 to March 30, 2005. Woolpert and USACE collected the post-Katina LiDAR data. Woolpert acquired 1-meter posting density data of Coastal Mississippi between the dates of September 19 and October 9, 2005. USACE collected 1-meter posting density LiDAR of the Mississippi barrier islands over the same time period. Each dataset was clipped at the approximate location of the debris line. Data south of the debris line was removed from the Mississippi LiDAR dataset. Data north of the debris line was removed from the post-Katrina LiDAR dataset. The post-Katrina LIDAR dataset was then imported into the seamless Mississippi LiDAR dataset creating a merged seamless coverage. LiDAR data was collected and processed in accordance with FEMA guidance as published in Appendix A, February, 2002. 2. LiDAR data at the interface between the land and ocean was collected (when possible) during periods when tides were predicted to be below mean lower low water. 3. LiDAR data accuracy is in accordance with the National Standard for Spatial Data Accuracy (NSSDA). When compared to GPS survey grade points in generally flat non-vegetated areas, at least 95% of the positions have an error less than or equal to 36.3 cm (equivalent to root mean square error of 18.5 cm if errors were normally distributed). result: (missing) report: (DQ_CompletenessCommission) nameOfMeasure: Completeness Measure evaluationMethodDescription: Cloud Cover: 0 result: (missing) report: (DQ_CompletenessCommission) nameOfMeasure: Completeness Report evaluationMethodDescription: Complete result: (missing) report: (DQ_ConceptualConsistency) nameOfMeasure: Conceptual Consistency evaluationMethodDescription: Compliance with the accuracy standard was ensured by the placement of GPS ground control prior to the acquisition of LiDAR data. The following checks were performed. 1. The ground control and airborne GPS data stream were validated through a fully analytical boresight adjustment. 2. The DTM (Digital Terrain Model) data were checked against the project control. 3. LiDAR elevation data was validated through an inspection of edge matching and visual inspection for quality (artifact removal). result: (missing) lineage: (LI_Lineage) statement: (missing) processStep: (LI_ProcessStep) description: The NOAA Office for Coastal Management (OCM) received files in LAS format. The files contained LiDAR intensity and elevation measurements. OCM performed the following processing on the data to make it available within the LiDAR Data Retrieval Tool (LDART): 1. The las files were converted from State Plane coordinates to Geographic coordinates. 2. The las header fields were sorted by latitude and updated. dateTime: DateTime: 2006-09-27T00:00:00 processStep: (LI_ProcessStep) description: For data management purposes, the Office for Coastal Management converted the data from NAVD88 elevations to ellipsoid elevations using Geoid 03. dateTime: DateTime: 2008-01-01T00:00:00 source: (LI_Source) description: Source Contribution: Raw LiDAR elevation data | Type of Source Media: Firewire hard drive sourceCitation: (CI_Citation) title: Merged 2005 MS with 2005 Post-Katrina LiDAR date: (CI_Date) date: 2006-11-09 dateType: (CI_DateTypeCode) publication sourceExtent: (EX_Extent) temporalElement: (EX_TemporalExtent) extent: TimePeriod: beginPosition: 2005-02-25 endPosition: 2005-10-09 processStep: (LI_ProcessStep) description: The dataset has been mosaiced, reprojected, and clipped as needed from the original input files using PDAL and GDAL commands. dateTime: DateTime: 2025-03-17 processor: (CI_ResponsibleParty) individualName: NOAA Office for Coastal Management contactInfo: (CI_Contact) address: (CI_Address) electronicMailAddress: coastal.info@noaa.gov role: (CI_RoleCode) processor | |
