NOAA's Office for Coastal Management (OCM) Data Access Viewer (DAV)
The Data Access Viewer (DAV) allows a user to search for and download elevation, imagery, and land cover data for the coastal U.S. and its territories. The data, hosted by the NOAA Office for Coastal Management, can be customized and requested for free download through a checkout interface. An email provides a link to the customized data, while the original data set is available through a link within the viewer.

In April 2019, Quantum Spatial (QSI) was contracted by The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office for Coastal Management (OCM) in partnership with the Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve (GBNERR) to collect high resolution Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data in the spring of 2019 for four research sites within the GBNERR in New Hampshire. These four sites are “Sentinel Sites” within the GBNERR where vegetation and elevation parameters have previously been continuously monitored and surveyed using traditional methods that require extensive person hours and manual labor.
In addition to these lidar point data, the bare earth Digital Elevation Models (DEM) created from the lidar point data are also available. These data are available for custom download at the link provided in the URL section of this metadata record.
This data set is an LAZ (compressed LAS) format file containing LIDAR point cloud data.
Data were collected to aid NOAA & GBNERR in assessing the viability of using non-invasive remote sensing survey techniques to monitor these sentinel sites and reduce the impacts of traditional survey techniques on the marsh environment.

Vertical Positional Accuracy
Non-vegetated Vertical Accuracy was assessed using 20 ground check points. These check points were not used in the calibration or post processing of the LiDAR point cloud data.
The Non-vegetated Vertical Accuracy (NVA) of this dataset, tested at 95% confidence level is 0.069 m. Please see the LiDAR data report for a discussion of the statistics related to this dataset.
Vegetated Vertical Accuracy was assessed using 8 VVA check points. These check points were not used in the calibration or post processing of the LiDAR point cloud data.
The Vegetated Vertical Accuracy (VVA) of this dataset, evaluated at the 95th percentile is 0.116 m. Please see the LiDAR data report for a discussion of the statistics related to this dataset.
Completeness Report
Flight plans are designed with sufficient sidelap to ensure there are no gaps between flightlines. Shaded relief images have been visually inspected for gaps.
LiDAR data has been collected and processed for all areas within the project study area.
Data was examined at a 1:2000 scale. Relative accuracy of the flightlines was assessed in Microstation using TerraMatch.
Acquisition. Air Shark collected the NOAA Great Bay UAS LiDAR data on behalf of Quantum Spatial between 05/01/2019 and 05/09/2019. The survey used a Riegl MiniVUX-1UAV laser system mounted in a DJI Matrice 600. Ground level GPS and aircraft IMU were collected during the flight. Sensor: Riegl MiniVUX-1UAV Maximum returns: 5 Nominal pulse density: 8 pulses/m^2 Nominal pulse spacing: 0.35 m AGL: 60 m Speed: 7.775 knots FOV: 90 degrees Scan frequency: 40.38 hz Pulse rate: 100 kHz Pulse width: 9.6 cm x 3.0 cm Wavelength: 905 nm Pulses in air mode: Linear Mode LiDAR Beam divergence: 1.6 mrads x 0.5 mrads Swath width: 120 m Overlap: 50%

1. Flightlines and data were reviewed to ensure complete coverage of the study area and positional accuracy of the laser points. 2. Laser point return coordinates were computed using POSPac MMS v.8.3, RiProcess v.1.8.5 and TerraScan v.19.005, TerraMatch v.19.002, TerraModeler v.19.005 software based on independent data from the LiDAR system, IMU, and aircraft. 3. The raw LiDAR file was assembled into flightlines per return with each point having an associated x, y, and z coordinate. 4. Visual inspection of swath to swath laser point consistencies within the study area were used to perform manual refinements of system alignment. 5. Custom algorithms were designed to evaluate points between adjacent flightlines. Automated system alignment was computed based upon randomly selected swath to swath accuracy measurements that consider elevation, slope, and intensities. Specifically, refinement in the combination of system pitch, roll, and yaw offset parameters optimize internal consistency. 6. Noise (e.g., pits and birds) was filtered using post-processing software, based on known elevation ranges and included the removal of any cycle slips. 7. Using TerraScan and Microstation, ground classifications utilized custom settings appropriate to the study area. 8. The corrected and filtered return points were compared to the ground survey points collected to verify the vertical accuracy. 9. QSI Proprietary software LASMonkey 2.4.1 was then used to filter the points into their final deliverable ASPRS classification (1 - Default, 1o - Default (Overlap Flag), 2 - Ground, 7 - Noise).

The NOAA Office for Coastal Management (OCM) received 4 las files in las 1.2 format from Quantum Spatial. The files contained lidar intensity and elevation measurements for the project area. Horizontal positions were provided in UTM Zone 19 NAD83(2011), meters coordinates. Vertical positions were provided in NAVD88 (Geoid12b) elevations and in meters. OCM performed the following processing for data storage and Digital Coast provisioning purposes:
1. The data were converted from UTM to geographic coordinates.
2. The data were converted from NAVD88 (orthometric) heights to NAD83(2011) ellipsoid heights using Geoid12b grids.
3. Assigned the geokeys, sorted the data by gps time and copied the data to database and to https.

The vertical values in this data set have been converted to reference North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD88) (GEOID18) meters, using the GEOID18 grids provided by the National Geodetic Survey.
Any datum and projection transformations were then done with the Office for Coastal Management 'datum_shift' program. Compression to an LAZ file was done with the LAStools 'laszip' program and can be unzipped with the same free program (laszip.org)
